Nell Showers - Couples, Individual Counsellor, Albury Wodonga

I am a married Mother of three kids from Albury and have always been fascinated about people and what drives their behaviour.  I believe we are all in this together and learn from each other as we grow in ourselves. Most of us are in relationships and share an understanding of what it’s like to experience this world so I always gain so much from working with clients as they navigate their more challenging moments. 

I definitely bring my personal experience to my counselling approach with couples or individuals at my rooms in Albury, and in terms of my formal training, I completed a Results Coaching intensive course in Sydney which ignited my passion for moving people forward in their lives and empowering them. I completed the Lifeline Telephone Counselling Certificate and worked with clients in crisis on the phones for Lifeline for 2 years. I furthered my studies with a Graduate Diploma in Psychology at Charles Sturt University, completing in 2012. I went on to complete a Diploma in Counselling with the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors in 2016. I am currently studying a Masters of Counselling with the University of Canberra.

I have worked as an onsite counsellor in Albury Wodonga with schools, in factories, with local councils and health organisations working with clients of all ages to identify barriers to moving forward in their lives, addressing anxiety, low mood, sleep issues, relationship difficulties, losing a loved one, changing careers and addressing burnout.

I am a Rehabilitation Counsellor, and have worked with Veterans in Albury Wodonga who have been medically discharged from the Armed Forces, focusing on medical management, vocational counselling and engaging in psychosocial activities. Working to get injured workers back to sustainable work is also a focus of mine.

I recently completed a Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy course with Phoenix Australia as well as an Emotionally Focused Therapy externship with EFT Australia.  

I am registered with the Australian Counselling Association and the Association of Rehabilitation Counsellors.
